Call for Board Members
Please note that we are no longer looking for new board members or participants for the academic year 2019-2020. If spots do open up we will post about it here and on social media.
Would you like to be part of a student-run journal that functions as a platform for interdisciplinary research to young and upcoming researchers? Are you interested in finding out what it takes to contribute to the editing of an academic journal? Then Soapbox is looking for you!
Soapbox is a biannual research journal for cultural analysis run by and providing a platform for students, PhDs and young researchers. We also run a website dedicated to critical, creative and experimental cultural work. In the past year, our editorial board, web team and designers have published a research journal; launched a website posting academic and multimedia content; arranged interviews with scholars and artists; sent writers to review workshops, new publications, exhibitions and festivals; and developed a community of researchers, writers and creators both young and more established.
We are currently in the process of launching our second issue, but will need some help for the development of the next issue which is coming out next year. We will need general editors who can help us select papers and events, go to workshops, edit, or in short, join us in the exciting times of content-development. More specifically, we are looking for board members who can also take care of our finances or join the web team, but we are also open to other contributions. As editors, we share all tasks ranging from PR, finances, administration, distribution and web development, but tasks are not fixed and are allocated according to needs. There is space for all sorts of skills – whether you already have them or want to develop them.
If you are interested in joining Soapbox, please send an email to [email protected] with a short introduction and motivation. You are also welcome to come and have a chat with us at the launch of our second issue on November 7th 8pm at Perdu! We will follow up with an open meeting later in November. For more information on the launch event, see our corresponding post.
